What are some good roads to ride my bike in san francisco? |
are the roads good for biking also going to sonoma california Anywhere in the vast Golden Gate National Recreation Area is likely to welcome bikes. http://www.nps.gov/goga San Francisco is not the most bike friendly city though. The streets are narrow. The hills are serious business (and can cause some pretty nasty spills). And the drivers, well, they're impatient and mean. If you do decide to ride on the street, I'd stick to wide, flat roads like Market Street, Sunset Boulevard, and The Embarcadero. Look up the site for The Golden Gate National Recreation Area. It includes areas in Marin there are lots of cool parks and for safety reasons I would stick to the parks with bike trails. Although the city's getting better about providing bike lanes, it's still pretty hairy. This site has a map of the city's bike lanes: http://www.sfbike.org/?maps Presidio and/or Golden Gate Park. A cyclist was hit and killed by a hit and run driver in the Presido and if you go to the park, watch out for homeless druggies . Other than that have fun. take the great highway, then up cliff house and onto presidio...from there onto the gg bridge...beaufiful i live there |
