Road rules for bikes in maine? |
when walking on a 2 way street which way are you spossed to walk faceing toward the car or the same direction the car is going. i read to rules that said you had to walk in the same direction of the cars. please help fast You always cycle WITH traffic. When on a road a bike is considered a vehicle like a car and must follow all traffic rules. If walking, wouldn't you be on the sidewalk anyway? You can walk any direction you want in that case. If you are walking in the street, walking against the flow of traffic lets you see the cars coming at you so you can get out of the way and not get run over. A pedestrian is supposed to face oncoming traffic (i.e. walk so that the car on your side of the centerline is shining it's headlights in your eyes). A cyclist (whether he's riding or walking his bike) has to travel in the same direction as traffic (i.e. the headlights for vehicles on your side of the centerline shine over your shoulder, lighting your back). This is true regardless of state or province in North America ... and generally true throughout Europe and Asia as well. |
