What kind of bike should I get to start with.? |
I'm going to get a bike but I want a gsxr 750 to start with I don't want to get a 600 and then want something with more power 6 months later and I don't want a 1300 because of the weight difference I have talked to several people at local bike dealers they all say a 750 would be a good starter bike because it's light and handles great but I would like to hear some different thoughts.The only bike I have ever road is a 125 dirt bike that I owned when I was 12 years old now 26 Get a Huffy and be done with it! Just convince your girl that you're doing your part to help the environment. Better yet... get the one with the banana seat and the sissy bar. You'll be the Man in your neighborhood. a 750 is alot of power about 20 to 30 horsepower difference and if u live n a place where there are alot of cars the it really does not matter the power but how fast the other cars are going and how crazy u want to ride. the faster u go the more likely u will fall because of gravel or slower cars. the most important thing to consider is that the bike fits you!!!!make sure you can place both feet on the ground......you can control the power output yourself...screw that starter bike crap!!! I upgraded to a Gixxer 750 from a Ninja 250. I don't recommend the 750 as a starter due to this bike is not forgiving at all. You can make mistakes on a 250 and you won't be seeing sky or eating gravel. Most riders don't ride their bikes to the fullest potential any ways so a 600cc should be fine. If your set on a 750 then that's what you should get. Just wear your gear and ride safe I say the 750cc is good, but everyone I know get's the 1000cc GSX R. The reason is....Everyone races the 1000cc class. All the GSX R's are the same from zero to 60 MPH, but after that speed the 750 & 1000 take the lead. Just remember, what ever size you get for a bike, don't crack the throttle back for the first 3 months, just ride and learn the bike. Most people wreck in the first 3-6 months, due to lack of knowledge of that bike. A 600 is a great bike to start with but you will want to upgrade within a couple months. The GSXR 750 is a sick bike with awsome torque. the only thing I'd say is stay away from the yamaha's. they have great power and are sick looking and feeling bikes, but haven't got the torque the Honda's and suzuki's have. I personally don't llike the kawasaki's. I just think the lines are to bulky looking. if you want a lighter bike stay with the GSXR 600, 750, 1000, R6, R1, CBR 600RR, CBR 1000RR. these models are lighter than the other model sportsbikes made. For instance Yamaha makes a 600R and 1000R, which is bigger and has the single seat that covers the whole area. Honda has the 600R F3 and F4. and so on....... I personally own a 05 CBR 600RR show quality, a 06 GSX R750, and a 07 Yamaha R1..... The Honda is the most comfortable to ride and has more torque than the bigger yamaha and suzuki, but for all around balls the GSXR 750 is probably the sickest bike on the market. The R1 has great power but has little torque........ my CBR 600RR has more maybe buy a cheaper bike with a rebuilt title for a few grand to work the kinks out. so you don't risk spending $10k on a bike you put dwn.... if you've ridden dirt bikes you will be fine though.. the thing to remember with sportsbikes is when going around corners you turn the handle bars the opposite way your turning , to make it lay dwn for you perfectly.... leaning will only do so much. (If your going around a corner to the right turn the handle bars to the left.) not everyone does this and they are the ones who over shoot turns and wreck.. |
