I'm a runner looking for a decent bike to cross-train with a couple times a week. I live in a city with paved green trails and few dirt trials. Is there a good bike that can be used for both road and trails? I'm not looking to spend a fortune but I don't want a piece of crap either. Possible something I might be able to do a biathlon with someday but not a necessity.
You should be able to go to a bike shop and ask about enry-level road bikes. Trek, Giant, Specialized, and schwinn all have bikes in the $500-700 range that are good, solid, reliable bikes that you can easlily upgrade, especially for doing local tri and bi athlons. Be sure to note that you will be on dirt some of the time, so they can outfit the right tires. |
