Riding my dirtbike on a powerline road??please help!? |
i just got a dirtbike a few weekends ago and i have the perfect place to ride it. there is a powerline road that backs right up to my backyard and run all the way down to a highway. it gives me a way to get to my family's private property and a way to ride down to my friends house really quickly (since im not legal to drive yet). everyone else that has been here for ever has dirt bikes and four wheelers too and we have always had no problem...now all of the sudden someone keeps calling in complaints about us! and just a little while ago i was riding my bike and the cops pulled down the powerline road and told me that they were sorry they had to do this but we arent aload to ride our bikes or atvs back there anymore. i was like...wow someone's a real crabby *** that its been this way since the motor was invented out here and now all the sudden they get a wild hair and decide they dont want us out there anymore. but can any legal action really be taken? are we really breaking the law? Power Line roads are owned by the Power Company and if there are NO Tresspassing signs (Which if there is then a Cop cant come down it iether) then I cant see why you cant ride down the dirt road ,Sounds to me like some crap a*s*s cant stand to see someone having fun ! Cop was just looking into a complaint ,Check into your citys codes If you do not own the property you are trespassing. You admit to not being old enough to drive. Those are 2 laws you broke. Any one can make a complaint. The law is final everybody else has been doing it since the motor was invented does not change the fact you got caught. Consider yourself lucky the cops didn't tow the offending bike and make your parents come pick it up as you are unlicensed. been there. you do not want to be on the wrong side of the law. The only thing I can tell you is this. Life is not fair. But when you are old enough to drive you can ride on the road legally and then you won't have to put up with Crabby Appletons any more. But you will have to watch out for Road Rage. Since the beginning of time there are 2 kinds of people.Bikers and Other people. I'm a proud biker and I'm glad you are too.The other people don't matter to me.But it seems I matter to them enough for them to make waves in my pond. IF the land is private property you need to get written permission from the property owner and then no one can say anything about you riding there. should someone have an issue with it after that they will have to contact the property owner to deal with the issue. |
