What's a good bike to replace my Trek 830 with? |
I've had this bike for 7 or 8 years with ZERO problems. I ride a between 5 - 10 miles four times a week. Mostly on road, occassionally on dirt trail... Thanks! I love my Trek SU200, perfect for the road and can handle light trails. a dirt street bike, go to norco.com, they sell some great bikes Why not look at a new 820 if you loved the 830? I rode an 820 for years with no complaints. Otherwise look at some Gary Fisher low end bikes. Depends what you want to do with it. The 820 is OK, as is the 830, but the steel frame will hold you back a bit. I would upgrade my frame to alluminium, possibly 6061 grade. Also, look at upgrading your components, like 8 or 9 speed gears. Try a specialized Rockhopper, or a Giant Rock SE. Basically, if there is nothing wrong with your 830, fine. But the fact that you are asking implies that you want more from your bike. Go the your local bike shop and see what you can get. But you will definately notice the joys of lighter frames. Luck So why are you going to replace it? I ride a 1973 Raleigh touring bike, with no problems, properly maintained they should last indefinitely I'm with droopy on this one. |
