Cyclists-pavement or road?

I get a bit hacked off when a bike comes zooming towards me and my kids on the pavement, but also get annoyed when i'm facing a head on collision after swerving to avoid one on the road. Are they legally allowed to be on the pavements? I'm aware of the environment and pollution so don't pull that one on me

Being on the pavement isn't the place for cyclists, you're absolutely right......but do you have any idea what it's like as a cyclist when you approach a designated cyclist path to find it full of mothers walking aimlessly along with their children just collected from school, to cycle along the path at that time is impossible....it's too easy to just blame cyclists for the cycling on the pavements.....true a lot of cyclists don't take the care they should & don't use the roads as they should....but come on, neither do all drivers or even pedestrians, who insist on walking straight out into the roads with an almost suicidal attitude to life, just because they can't hear a car coming along....so don't be stupid enough to try & focus on just one set of road users, get all your facts together first......you can't lump just one set of people together, it takes all to be more considerate & caring about where they're walking, stepping out, cycling & driving........why should I be forced onto the road where it's packed full of traffic when pedestrians have over-taken the path that has been set up for me to cycle safely along...I can't speak for other cyclists, but if the cycle paths are full with pedestrians.....then it makes sense to me to go along the pavement til I can get back on the cycle path again.....
If someone like ED F were to deliberately stand in my path....then so be it.....he'd get far more hurt than I would....
no bikers are ment to be on the road same as vehicle drivers.with the exception of children of course..
Cyclist belong on the road and the pavement is only for pedestrians. Young children on small bikes should be allowed on pathways when supervised. Pedestrian areas are just that and cyclists should walk through them as many signs indicate.
there was a woman who used to block the road when i was cycling to school and it was a nightmare. she is dead now tho so i guess were even!
In UK they are not supposed to use the pavement - except cycleway routes as marked -if they hit you - you can sue for personal injury

THEY KNOW WHO THEY ARE - Idiots
I am a cyclist and always cycle on the road or a designated cycle path. I think all cyclists should do this as footpaths are for feet not wheels.
No they're not legally allowed to be on the pavement unless being pushed by a dismounted cyclist.

I always make a point of standing in the way of cyclists on the FOOTpath (particularly cycle couriers), if they hit me I'd consider it assault and would react accordingly.

I would not suggest this for you and your children though, but pedestrians always have the right of way.

Make a complaint to the local council possibly?
