Do you think a amber flasher on your rucksack would be road legal in the UK.?

Last winter I was knocked off my bike by a lorry, at the time I was using really bright red led lights and wearing reflective gear. The atitude what I seem to see get is that many motorist don't seem to give a dam about cyclists. My commute home is on busy country road and I have notice Farm Tractors with flashing amber light. You see them from a great distance so you have time react in a car. A cyclist with red lights, it only a bike and you don't get the same reaction from motorist. So I'am looking at all options for tail lights but the amber led on my rucksack seems a good idea but I don't know if the police are going to think its a good idea. "Some smart alex going to say your a bike not tractor".

Flashing amber lights have no significance in law, so you'd be fine. They're used on tractors, breakdown trucks, and the like to draw drivers' attention to them - exactly what you want it for.

You'd still need your steady red and white lights at night, though - that's the legal minimum.
Its a good idea, but you will still need the standard red and white lights as well
Im sure its ok..they would prob prefere you not to use blue lights as they are reserved for the emergency services.
Sounds like a good idea
I don't think the police would worry about a flashing amber lightas long as you have the obligatory red light as well..
The problem with amber is that it is used to indicate slow moving vehicles, or to indicate turns. I would tend towards a red LED.

I ride with one in my hydration pack, set on flash, as well as one on the post. You might also look at a helmet light.
I added this after I had a near miss with a lorry. The problem is that their height means that, especially coming over the brow of a hill, your saddle will block the line of site to the light.

At the moment, flashing rear lights are not legal, but the legislation regarding the flash rate and brightness is going through at the moment. Regardless, use a flashing rear LED, since they are good. Cat Eye do a couple of good ones.

You might also look at a hi vis jacket of some sort.
