My dad and I are making atrip to Alaska this summer. Any tips on where to go? We want to bike.?

We are flying into Anchorage. Once there we will rent a pick-up truck with 2 bikes. Where are there good bike trails? Where are the beautiful views? We are going for 7 days. Any tips on where to go? Beautiful drives and roads? Our plan is to drive, stop, then bike, and drive, stop, bike etc. We have no knowledge of the roads in Alaska so please help. Thanks. Help is much appreciated.

PS: Do Verizon phones work there too? If so, is there an extra fee that I have to pay?

I recommend taking an extra couple of days and driving down to Seward and Homer (that's where I'm from). There's lots of little places there and in between with bike trails.
The Kenai Peninsula is "Alaska's playground." :) Check out the Exit Glacier and the Portage Glacier, there's also a lot of festivals in summer too.
You can also go north from Anchorage and check out Denali National Park, Tok and Fairbanks. Or take a ferry to southeast Alaska and visit Juneau or to the Alutian Islands.
There are only a few major highways in Alaska - all are beautiful, and there are more scenic excursions and fun adventures than you can imagine along the way. You can't go wrong whichever way you go.

I don't think Verizon has service in Alaska so I don't know if your phones will work. You can probably contact you local Verizon rep about service. Another option is to get a pre-paid or disposable phone when you get there. I believe there's only two wiseless services, ACS and GCI, and service isn't always 100% just because of some of the Alaska remoteness and terrain.
I know you'll have fun and you might find that 7 days isn't nearly enough. :)
