What is the difference between a snowmobile shield and a road shield, besides that is is double lens?

The snowshield is not DOT approved. So you cant use it on the road. My question is what is the difference of going 55 on a sled and going 55 on a bike?

There is no practical difference. 55 is 55 whether on a bike, a sled, a boat or a parachute. The difference is that most states have adopted the DOT certification/approval as the standard for helmets used on public highways. The manufacturer must pay for the certification process for each product that wears the DOT approval sticker. Since certification is not required for off-road vehicles like snowmobiles, the manufacturers don't spend the extra money to have the helmets and shields certified.
