What is a good bike for less than $150 for a 14 year old girl? |
I would mainly ride on roads and ocassionaly gravel or dirt trails. I want a bike that can fit my budget but is still good. I will be riding at least 3 times a week. I am 5'9. Don't buy a department store brand bike. You would do better riding a used hybrid bike from the likes of Giant, KHS, Jamis, Trek, and Diamond Back- to name a few. Department store bikes do fit your budget but aren't very good. Go to a bike shop and find a bike that fits you. Don't buy it there though (unless they have used ones in your price range). Just remember what size fits you. Then go searching the Craigslist or newspaper for one in your size that you will like from a reputable company and in great shape. You'll get a higher quality bike that should need less maintenance and repairs than a new department store bike. You won't regret it. It's for ages 16 and up but it can fit somebody 5'9" very well. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.d... Wal-Mart!!! They have good ones. Get the one with the suspension that absorbs shocks when you hit bumps and stuff. Also, check out the ones they display outside they are usually less in prices to a cosmetic defect, which is really minor. You can get a great deal!!! Just go to X-mart. They have lots of good mountain bikes for less than that. Also, look for a good used one in the thrifty nickel or similar paper devoted to classified ads. And you can try craigs list. Check out your local bike shop. Sometimes they have used ones for sale. They might even have something new in that price range. |
