I'm converting my Schwinn Sprint into a single speed machine, and I was just wondering about wheel size..? |
I know the default for the old road bikes is 27", but finding new wheels and compatible components is going to be a royal pain in my rear. I know you can put 700c on an old bike, and just fix up the brakes. My bike will only have a rear brake. Basically, could someone detail the process to align the brakes with the more common wheel? Thanks! I'd just get a new bike, but my budget is pretty low right now, so I'm relying on eBay, random junk bikes, and friends for parts. I plan on putting a flip flop hub system on the rear wheel. The info I have does not allow 700c on a 27 1 and 1/4 or 1/8. The 27 1 and 1/4 is interchangeable with the 1/8 but that's all I know! Unless you could get some really old school brakes that have adjustale calipers, you would just set the brake pads as low as you could get them and hopefully they will fit the 700c wheel. Bon Chance!
