Sora or Shimano RD 2200 ?

I've been looking at a Scott Speedster S60 road bike. I like the looks of the bike. It has Shimano RD 2200 derailer. Is this above or below the Sora road group ? I can't find the RD listed anywhere. Thanks.

Hey,

Shimano does an ascending number scheme. The higher the number, the higher the level.

The Sora Rear Derailler is RD 3300

So, the RD 2200 is the level below Sora

2200 series is recommended for sport-road bikes with flat handlebars. It does not have dual control shift levers in its component group so you couldn't fully outfit a road bike with it.

It is, however, compatible with the Sora group of parts.

Here is their page of road parts:

good luck. Source(s): work in a bike shop
