I am thinking about buying a Giant Cyress SX for dirt road biking. Has any one out there tired this bike out enough to give me some details?

A lot depends on what you consider dirt road biking. The Cypress SX is really meant for street or paved trail use not for dirt or offroad use. The lower spoke count wheels won't really hold up too well for off road use. You aren't suppose to use the adjustable stem that it comes with for offroad use either. The stock tires are a smooth tread that aren't aggressive enough for dirt use. This isn't to say you couldn't use the bike for what you had in mind, it just wasn't intended for it. |
