Best 125 learner motorbike to buy?

after a 125 road bike - undecided which to go for .
its either a 2 stroke Aprillia rs type or a 4 stroke off road type - yamaha tw?
pro's and con's appreciated.

It's a real personal thing and everyone is going to have a differing opinion. The riding experience between 2 and four stroke is very different and if you are going to spend a lot of time in traffic then the 4 stroke will be a lot less tiresome. In practical terms the 4 stroke will be better as well, if for no other reason that you don't have to remember to buy 2 stroke oil, which in itself is not as widely available as it used to be (though not yet a problem). You may also find when the time comes to sell on that the 4 stroke will be more widely wanted.

However .... I love 2 strokes and still blast about on my old 350LC Yamaha now and then. They are great fun out on the open road and something that I would reccomend everyone experiences at least once in their life. They are a more involved riding experience and loads of fun on the sporty type bikes trying to get the most of the power band. You are looking at a 125 however and you state a learner so that will be less of an issue as it will be a whole lot more sanitised to meet power outputs.

If I was to be forced to make a decison in your position I would go for a 4 stroke and I guess the TW is as good as any if you want the off road styling. Buy a bike with road tyres though as even street legal knobblies handle like a box of frogs, on the road - in my opinion. Once you have passed your test and get a bit more experience then get your hands on something like an Aprilia RS250 and then learn the real benefits of what a two stroke has to offer but that will become harder and harder to find as the tree huggers have all but wiped these wonderful engines out,

Good luck and enjoy your choice.
Have a look at the Honda Varadero, it looks much bigger than a 125, (biggest looking 125 available) top speed 70mph, very classy and off road sporty looks, also the riding position is comfortable...i like em anyway.

Here's a link to see 1 on Ebay...

Yamaha TW not a good choice as the guts go out of them too quickly. Aprillia nice bike but needs regular service to keep them in shape.Oh, and don't even consider 2nd hand as they get ranted ! Personally I would look in Motorcycle News to see which bikes hold their value. If you are planning on taking your test, then you need to be able to get back as much as possible towards your next bike. Hondas go forever, but not very fast. You can pick up used bike guides too in most good newsagents or garages. Good luck !
why not look at www.thescooterandbikeshop.co.u...
brand new machines at a lot less cost than the equivalent jap models. if you are looking for an off road type machine try the Sinnis Apache, or the road bike I would look at the Kaiser XTR, replica of the CBR 125, but at 拢1150 new a bit cheaper than a 4 year old one

I would recommend either the Honda CB125 or the Suzuki gn125 both are good bikes make sure you go for the UK spec bikes the aprillia looks cool but wont last 2 minutes the engines are very unreliable and break very easy
