Broken collar bone .....? |
how long until i can ride my road bike again......thats happened 4 weeks ago and i still feel much pain Four weeks and still hurting is a bad sign. Collarbones are a quick heal for most people, and most would be pain free and maybe even riding some by now. Sounds like yours may not be healing. Consult a physician. A warning...Do what your dr. says. My ex broke his collar bone, kept doing all of the wrong things and did not heal for a long time. He went over the handle bars of his mt. bike, that is how he broke himself. Many years ago I broke my collarbone in a motorcycle accident. It was completely separated, not just cracked or splintered. Three weeks later it had fused well enough that I could ride a stand-up Jet Ski. It still hurt for quite a while especially when under pressure like during bench pressing. If your doctor says you can put some pressure on it then grit your teeth and do it. Maybe you could borrow a more upright bike to ride for a week or two until the break sets and ease into the road bike position a little at a time. Be content to ride an upright comfort bike to stay in shape; setbacks are pretty bad on collar bones. Or try a recumbent for a while. If it's completely broken= I say 4 weeks plus to be safe. If it's fractured= 2 weeks, maybe 1 week I finished a P1/2 race with a broken collar bone for 60 miles. Don't do that! I never heard the end of it once I got to the ER at the end of the race. Parents weren't too happy either. But funny thing is that I got 7th in the final sprint. |
