Rear hub question?

I have a Trek 2200 road bike, the rear hub seems to be grinding/clicking. Would that slow down ones MPH and should I get it overhauled or just get a new one

GET IT OVERHAULED PRONTO

Any grinding in a hub is going to wind up getting more expensive if you do not attend to it quickly. Hopefully the damage has not spread to the bearing races in the hub. the bearings and the cones can be replaced relatively cheaply. If your on cartridge bearings you can breath easy not dear either.

If your hub is stuffed your probably looking at a new wheel or rebuiding the old one. (expensive)

Yes it will slow you down

Any reputable bike shop can fix it for you
It wouldn't really slow you down much until it broke entirely. If the hub is adjustable, it could be worth it to get it overhauled--first make sure the quick-release is tight and try to wiggle the rear wheel in the frame. If it is loose, then the hub needs to be overhauled or tightened. If the sound you are talking about happens when you are coasting and/or pedaling backwards, you probably have a worn freehub body, which can be replaced. You will have to go to a Trek dealer to get this if you have Bontrager wheels/hubs, or any bike shop if they are Shimano hubs. Niether fix is very expensive (probably $20-$50) but you should get it checked by a bike shop ASAP. Good luck.
