Off road or asphalt? |
i have just purchased a motorcycle. i am new to riding, so i am riding in my yard (approximately 5 to 6 acres) to get used to my bike. we've had dry weather recently. should i expect more difficulty when i begin riding on asphalt? what problems may arise in this transition? how long have YOU been operating a motorcycle comfortably? Um you are going to notice more traction, its hotter and there are more things that suddenly pop up at you like idiots who run lights, etc. Source(s): 17 years riding motorcycles ar for sissys, buy a nice new scion and you will be happy, cause it will save u fuel milage by being in the shop 86% of the year, good luck and no i am smarter then everyone else NO info on your profile & I cant be bothered emailing you.. so I will have to pretend Im psycic.. ROAD bike/ DIRT bike?? dosnt make a lot of diference, but the tyres that are on the bike do... road tyres on the dirt dont have much grip so if its got road tyres expect the acceleration to be better.. dirt tyres on the road dont grip so expect less... bike should feel more stable on the road as it wont slide around like it does on the dirt... NOW for the big difference.... There are cars on the road that will try to run you down.... You dont beleive me do ya?? well if your still alive in 6 months ya will know it was the truth.. how are you at grabbing a hand full of front brake when your motoring along at 40 MPH??? this is a must be able to do!!! all of your stopping power is in the front brakes .. the rear is only there because the law says you must have one... you dont beleive me do ya?? well your going to learn or fall down.. In fact you will probably fall down anyway( all learners do).. I still throw my bikes away on occasion..LOL to quick into the corner & too much front brake... Wear lots of strong clothing & a good helmet....not T shirt & shorts.. dosnt matter how hot the weather..when ya fall of it can hurt..gravel rash takes awhile to heal.. DO A MOTORCYCLE SAFETY COURSE.... this will save your life.... having said all that.. bike are great fun.. just take some care.. and learn from your & others mistakes.. one last thing... try to keep the black things on the wheels pointing at the road...LMFAO.. 35 years riding & counting.......... difficulty? no, however, a different feel to the ride yes. if u practice on asphalt more than your back yard you might have a better chance of getting used to the transition. pick a back road and then go from there. |
