What would be a decent bike for a mini-triathlon? |
I don't want to break the bank on this purchase. The race is mostly on paved road. Any help would be appreciated or just links to a websites. In a minitri you can ride anything! If it's your first, just do it to see if you like it, don't even buy a bike. Borrow one or use what you've got. A mini is barely even a ride! Plus I've raced with people in sprint distances who ride cruisers and mountain bikes and my best friend did her first tri on a mountain bike and placed #2 in her age group so it goes to show that the bike isn't nearly as important as the rider. You don't necessarily need a high performance bike bikesdirect.com, they have a loaded but cheap tri bike. Lisa R's husband is correct... it sounds like you're just doing this for fun, so no need to break the bank. If you decide you like it and want to be competitive, there's plenty of good ways to spend thousands. Also, the bikesdirect.com site is full of good deals, and they have a good service reputation. |
