Best solvent (biodeg) for cleaning der and cogs? |
also preferred dry lube for road bikes?? I also use Simple Green DO NOT USE WD40 itmakes a huge mess and attracts all kinds of crap. I like finish line lube. I also have a Park tools (cyclone?) chain scrubber it works very well. I personally use Park's cirtrus cleaner, works well. Pedro's extra dry lube is my choice on the chain. Just my preference for what works for me, I think you'll find varying opinions. WD40 not solvent- you will disolve the grease in the hub of your wheel and crankcase I don't use bio cleaners. I use White Lightening for the chain. For pure cleaning, nothing beats White Lightning areosol. It disolves the gunk and blows it out of the cracks and crevices. That said, good old soap and a tampico bristle brush works wonders. Be sure to heavily lube your chain afterwards with a parafin-based lubricant such as Finish Line. Park Chain Bright is good for plastic parts, but for metal, the best by far is Finish line Citrus De-greaser (just don't get it on plastic or carbon fiber). Simple Green, biodegradable, non toxic and you can buy it at any grocery or drug store. |
