What should I look for when I'm looking for a bike in Austin? |
I would like to ride about 8 to 10 hours a week on the road Hey , you should really check out Cragislist. I got a Raliegh mountain bike there for 120$ brand new. At first I didn't want another mountain bike that changed speeds but It really works for austin. Especially with all the hills. Treks are good too if you are willing to spend the money. Stay away from bikes from wal-mart or department stores that break down. Also try out the bike before u buy it! you should look for something sturdy, because alot of texas Roads that are not Highways are not maintained by the state so they get a little bad, if oyur just getting into it a triple set up but a double would do fine, not to high pressure for wheels for the same reason of the roads 90 - 110 should suffice, um i think specialized has some good sturdy bikes because they Paris-Roubaix a whole bunch so they know bumpy, but I would 100% of the time wold say a Trek bike would be could and you could even go all carbon if you dont hit to many bumps with it and they say carbon now can take anything myself specialized.com trekbikes.com A good deal, of course! I think Austin has little to do with a bike choice though. You left out info like what type of road riding. Are you going to do slow, moderate, fast or hell bent rides? Commuting, training, or pleasure riding? Riding crappy streets or smooth trails and park roads? You weigh 300lbs or 150? Are you going to search out hills or avoid them?
