My bike manufacturer recommends to change my oil after 5000km but mechanics recommend to change it after 2000?

plzz help i drive 25-30 km at an average in delhi roads...!!i own a pulsar150dtsi...!!!

those are pretty short hops. barely even enough time to get the engine hot enough to burn out the condensation. definately want to be sure ur using the proper weight oil. mc oil is different than oil for cars...the weight isnt the same. for example, for a harley, u need 20w50 oil. usually in cars, u run 10w40; way too thin for mc engines. mc engine oil i've seen is in the 20w50 range.
mobil1, amsoil has been highly recommended by other harley owners on the board i haunt. the new stuff, syn3 is the synthetic. very pricey for that tho.
the short hops u do is pretty hard on the oil. i would change it at the very least at 2100 miles (3380 km), at the very most, 3000 miles (4828 km).
the biggest enemy is viscosity breakdown. usually happens when oil gets overheated and its been in far too long. be good to ur engine and it'll be good to u. engine damage from not changing the oil when u should isnt covered by warrenty....and can get very expensive.
btw, 2000 km is 1,243 miles. i would say that would be overkill and just linin the mech's pockets. not worth it unless u have alot of sandstorms in delhi. the air cleaner would take more of a beating than the oil will.
save urself some money...get a service manual, and for the most part, u can do the wrenching urself. changing the oil is probably the simpliest job to do.
For the price of oil and a filter, I think it's good insurance to do it more often. I would split the difference and do it every 2500 km though.
For the price, frequent oil/filter changes are cheap insurance, especially in either city driving or dusty conditions.
Driving around town, or stop and go traffic, dirt roads and such are considered severe conditions, and most, if not all vehicle manufacturers recomend more frequent maintenance for severe conditions because it's harder on equipment. Youre oil gets dirtier quicker, and your oil and air filter trap more crud quicker and need to be changed more often.
every 2000 for a daily rider every 4000-5000 for a weekend warrior
always follow factory specs.
