Just shopping for a GPS - I want a portable, color, detailed GPS Unit for rugged trail use including ultrarunning, hiking, mtn biking and road cycling. I've checked out Outiside Magazine, but I can't decide based on reviews. I am curious about the Sunnto x9i and others as well. Any advice?
Garmin eTrex Legend and Vista are now available in color. I have the Vista B&W version from about 2 years ago and it works awesome. If you want to spend a little more check out the Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx. My brother bought one a few weeks ago. It gets great reception(picks up tons of satelites even inside) and the resolution is awesome. I'm not sure if I would want to carry it though if i am doing ultrarunning though. X9i was my dream device. After checking its spec esp. internal battery life, I'll keep Foretrex 101 using rechargeable AAA (though running out faster than usual Alkaline). Garmin GPS60CSx equipped with powerful SiRFIII (enough for civilian, not military though) is my next dream gadget. Try the links in http://www.hot8sites.com/gps/
