Is it safe to walk alone at night for a woman? |
My girlfriend and I often walk or ride bike together late at night (at about 10:00 or later) a few times each week. We do not do this along major highways. A few times, I had other obligations, but she went anyways. Is this really safe? Do you have any suggestions so that nothing does happen if she does this again? Should I ask her not to go even? I am not sure if this is relevant, but we are from a small city in south-central Canada, and we walk or bike along roads on the edge of town. Also, I am not a native Canadian, and not completely familiar with this area; she pretty much is. Well, her safety is her responsibility. Safety is, for the most part, common sense. If you are truly concerned, you should voice those concerns, but it has to be her that decides if SHE is safe or not. Ultimately, it depends on the area, the circumstances, and her judgment. If you doubt any of these things, then I think you should talk to her. But if she feels safe and is aware of her surroundings, she can probably keep herself safe. It is up to her, and I bet she appreciates the concern, just don't over protect! Source(s): My Life! You never want to take a chance. Have her carry mace. That way she can protect herself. I wouldn't walk at night on highways unless you want to die. It is very dangerous, no matter where you are.Always wear bright colors, and put reflective on the back of your shoes. Don't let fear make your decisions for you. Use common sense, be safe, but don't be too afraid to go anywhere. Wear reflective clothing, keep cell phone + change for emergencies, take your pepper spray, stick to your usual routes, but other than that, yeah, you're okay. no way unless she is armed with a tazer a 357 magnum and a cell phone. I never really feel safe when walking alone at night. You just never know. She should carry maze with her at least. Maybe she shouldn't bike alone too late at night. |
