My three year-old chipped his tooth? |
He fell of his bike and ate s**** on the pavement. Of course he has road rash, but he also chipped a tiny corner of his front, right tooth. It's not noticible if you aren't looking for it. I am not that worried about it since it's a baby tooth, but still a little concerned. Should I take him to the dentist? Don't waste your trip. You are right to not worry since it's a baby tooth. Unless its a major chip that can decay and cause problems, don't worry. Many children's dentists didn't worry about small chips in baby teeth. If the tooth is not cracked and the inside is not showing, it is less likely that infections will occur. Even so, if it were me, I'd take him to a dentist. You should be taking him to a dentist at this point anyhow for regular cleaning and start on a lifetime of dental hygiene. yes take him. although it's a baby tooth, it could stil get infected and cause his permanent tooth to have problems or grow in wrong. better to be safe than sorry i say go. Has he ever been to a dentists before? He's not too young, ya know. My kids go to a pediatric dentist and they are GREAT with little kids. They watch movies as their teeth are being worked on. That works as a good distraction. A friend of mine took her daughter to see a dentist for the first time at age 4 and discovered she already had 3 cavities. She was shocked. She had no idea. She was extra diligent after that and had no more cavities over the next few years. She did have to take her daughter to a pediatric dentist because her kid was terrified of their first dentist. I would take him to the dentist just to be safe and he is already old enough for a visit. Don't take him to the dentist. He'll be fine. I am a day care teacher for one-year-olds. Last winter one of my students had a broken front tooth and went through a biting phase. She would try to blame another child, but we could always tell it was she who bit because of the mark she left! She doesn't bite any more. |
