How easy is it to get a motorcycle repaired? |
I'm a bit of a neophyte with all this, but here's the setup: I'm planning a cross-country road trip (with a slight bit of basic off-roading) starting in Utah, going through California, down to Georgia and back to Utah. I currently am planning to buy a new (hopefully) 07 or 08 Kawasaki KLR 650. Since the last bike I owned was 10 years ago and I took it to a shop for repairs, how do you (duh!) get a bike repaired should there be a mechanical failure with it? Should I look up Kawasaki dealerships around the areas I'll be in, just in case, or is there another way. The old "fix it yourself" adage doesn't work for me. I'm the world's worst repair man. Thanks! Finding dealers in the areas you'll be is a good start. But...I've had better luck with the little rinky dink mechanic shops. Those guys (usually) don't try to upsell you a bunch of junk you don't need. Jump online and check out bike sites in the area's your going. You might be able to email some people and see who's good. Your idea of looking up dealers along the way sounds great. Learn the basics, Checking spark plug, oil change, air filter. anything else, take to dealer unless your feeling very adventurous. Happy biking. |
