How much should I pay for a good road bike? Beginner's..?

I just bought a MTB and love it, and later I want to get into RBing. How much should I save up for for one? Like what's the minimun I should pay? I want a good brand, I just got my MTB from Trek and thinking I'll just get a road bike from there too.

500ish is a usual price for a beginners road bike unless you find used. Trek and Giant have pretty good beginner bikes.

you cant go wrong with trek I'm sure you could find a good road bike a your local bike shop.

if you are looking to save a couple dollars i would look for a used bike. you can find the trek 1000 for around 500 dollars in good condition used. thats a great bike for a beginner. its a little on the heavy side (about 23 pounds) but it has solid components and its a great bang for your buck!

good luck!!
