I am looking for a new Road Bike? |
I don't know too much about Road Bike quality although I am an avid rider. I came across this one on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie... Well it's an old bike and well worn. BUT if in good riding condition and you're certain it fits you it'd be a good deal at $200+ship. At $300+ship it would still be an OK deal. The Cannondales are really good frames. Although this one looks "pretty" in the photos, I think it has lots of miles on it. I am guessing this because there is such a mixture of parts on it. It has an 8 spd cassette with a 9 speed front derailleur (I question if they are compatible--ask the seller) Also there is a dura ace shifter on one side and ultegra on the other. These are both high end, but why have two different ones. It sounds like you are not exactly a gear head, so I would suggest you get something much newer. Look for any road bike with Shimano Tiagra, shimano 105, ultegra, etc. They usually come on bikes $900 and up. You will be surprised how many people are selling bikes that they spent a lot of money on a few years ago and only put a few under miles on. They are selling at less than 1/2 original. For you, go with something newer/fewer miles. Happy hunting Cannondale is a good entry level bike. You might want to also look into www.bikesdirect.com They sell a lot of new entry level bikes too. You also want to make sure you're buying the right size. I've added a link to the article I wrote on bike sizing. Good luck!! I'd pass on it. Mixed brake levers tells you something. I'd never buy a bike I could'nt sit on... |
