Can spraypainting a road bike increase the weight?

if i sand the old paint off.

Yes. As a general rule I allow 100 grams for the weight of the finish on a road frame and fork.

No kidding.

EDIT: Mtbkr... I haven't looked at the difference between liquid paint and powdercoating since all the bikes I design use liquid paint. However, I can tell you without a doubt that powdercoating- just by virtue that it is all solids and much thicker than liquid paint- is heavier. I worked someplace that used to powdercoat their products but weight wasn't an issue.

Probably not by any significant amount. Modern paints might even be lighter.

HTH

Yes, but not by much,(unless your a weight weenie) anything you put on it will add to the weight. If you are sanding it I hope it's not a carbon frame bike, as sanding it will damage the frame.
Note: I know your not a weight weenie as they know dust adds weight.

Edit: Mirage.. the 100 grams is that for standard painting? Have you compared the actual weights between regular spray painting and powder coating?
