Looking for decent new bike in the AUD250 range, Brisbane, Alderley?

Need new bikes for wife and daughter. Just looking for decent machines for use on roads and trails. No racing, no exotic materials, etc., etc., In the US (from where I recently moved), such a bike would cost about USD 200 (about AUD 220). Looking online, all I'm finding is bikes that cost about as much as my car. Any suggestions?

Have a look around. you should be able to score bikes for around that money. Sacrifice suspension for the best components you can get . The cheaper bikes have terrible suspension anyway. This might be easier said then done though, even the $75 junk at K-Mart has suspension these days. One of these guys should be able to supply a basic reliable bike.
