Is it safe to ride SuperSports motorcycles on wet roads?

I am thinking of buying a Suzuki GSXR 600cc when I pass my test and was wondering if it is safe to ride a sports bike on wet roads as I don't have a car and it will be my only form of transport.
Also, when you look at ads for used motorcyles, why do some people put "only seen dry roads"? Why is this beneficial to the condition of a used motorcycle?

yes you can definitely ride a bike on wet roads. personally i buy tires that are rated for rain because i use my bikes regardless of weather conditions and sometimes on gravel or dirt roads. [although that doesn't mean that other tires can't handle wet conditions or gravel roads]. you have to take it easier on the throttle and turns in some conditions but practice makes perfect.

only seen dry roads can be important because that means that the grime and spray haven't gotten into engine mounts and other hard to clean places. if it was washed regularly you should be ok though.

yes it is only as safe as you make it to be it all has to do with your riding abilities and being aware of the road conditions with the tire technology of today as long as you are careful and don't ever push the bike on wet roads especially in turns and giving yourself more time to stop and space between vehicles in front of you it can be a safe ride ,but a sports bike can be a hand full in the rain do to the throttle response that they have and the acceleration from a dead stop this is why you rarely see sports bikes riders out in the rain

1.Wet roads question. Yes it's as safe as your abilities.

2.Dry roads cycle question: Bike which have only been ridden on dry roads....tend to have less rust and shows care for the bike, just as...Ones...always keep inside a garage.

Resale can be higher or set by the owner who sells it.

It has more to do with the rider than the bike. Riding in the rain is a skill few riders master.

Ok

You should never use a motorcycle as your main mode of transportation cars are a necessity.

Getting a GSXR as a first bike is not a good move all you have to do is drop it one time and the repairs can be 1K.

Riding in the rain is for experienced riders it is not the rain that will get you in trouble but the cars that share the roads.

The reason that sellers promote their bikes as "Never seen rain" because rain has a way of ruining the finish of a bike and some riders will see riding in the rain as abuse.

Your best bet would be to enroll in the MSF course earn your license and take it from there.

Good Luck

riding in the rain is fine, be careful.

people that list bikes as never seen rain, those are the same people that don't ride enough. everyone gets caught in the rain, it does no harm to the bike.

Yes you can ride in the wet, as long as you don't overdo it. MC tires today are fantastic. If you stay within the speed limit you should have plenty of traction. This assumes your tires aren't worn out. Be sure to get used to your bike on dry roads first.
Some people think that if they never ride in the rain they can avoid rust on their bikes.

It is safe, just most do not ride in wet weather because the chances of an accident are higher same as in a car. Rain does not damage a motorcycle. A GSXR is a great bike I had a 600 as my first and Loved it. I would not rate it as the best bike for wet conditions but as long as it has good tires it can handle as much as the rider.
