Debate what do you like better?

What do you prefer for a cruising bike and looks bike?

I'm personally gonna go with a Harley-Davidson.

The reason I pick this is because I have been around Harley's my whole life. I love the sound of them and the way they look. My dad has a Harley and I sat on it and its really comfortable. Then I have sat on other brad bikes and there very uncomfortable. Going back to sound I love how when a Harley goes by its got a deep loud sound it gives me chills. Then on other hand when a different brand bike goes by (Honda, Yamaha, etc.) It sounds like a bee. Also Harley's last the longest (I hear this from talking to people) and the older bikes I see on the road are mostly Harley's aswell.

This is just my OPINION.

This old tired debate will go on as long as people are willing to buy into it. Harley riders will say Harley is better and Metric riders will say Metric is better. It all boils down to personal preference. I like Harley Davidson and that is what I choose to ride. I have ridden both and both make excellent bikes. I have almost 30 years riding experience under me and I have ridden almost everything.

teknodog, stock 240 rear tire? the suzuki m109r and the new v rods (night rod special at least) have 240 rear tires. its nice, but it doesn't make the bike all on its own.

and Magley, motorcycles are not made only for performance. bikes made for that are made for racing, which is great on the track, but you can never ride it to its potential on the street.

Well ... they are all different designs for different people built for different things. Most Harleys are not meant to go 120, hence why younger people ride crotch rockets, which are designed mostly for speed and handling. So you cant really compare Jap bikes to a Harley. On the other hand, Harley's Buell sport bikes look pretty neat, just too "basic" for anyone that likes to ride.

Harley was saved from going out of business, first by AMF in the 70s, and later by President Reagan in the 80s. If it was a great bike the company would have stood on its own.
The design is antique and bikes are sold on sound or status rather than quality and performance.

Your opinion is worth what it cost.

If you want antiques...buy antiques....

motorcycles aren't built for that purpose, they are built to go fast, handle well, and accelerate quickly...

harleys do none of this compared to any motorcycle of equal displacement...

they are not motorcycles, they are lifestyle accessories, more akin to "tractors" but with 2 wheels...

opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and there are lots around here.

you mention you like harley and someone will pick on them. did he change your mind? didn't think so

i prefer hd cruisers as well.

i go Brittish. whens the last time you saw one? besides, you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a HD.

Any bike will last if you take care of it
My Brother in NC has a Pan chopper and a Honda 750 chopper that I built over 30 yrs ago
Both Still running-"He still" Hasn't paid me for either one

victory hammer...stock 240 rear tire...can't beat that

so what is the gd question ?

None of the current batch of cruiser bikes interest me. Nothing wrong with them. In fact these bikes are very, very good today.
I will be stating my opinion in the next couple of sentences.
For me I do not like the seating position of cruiser bikes. Just not comfortable. Hard on my back. I also do not like forward controls. Again, it is a comfort issue. Please note, no brands are being mentioned. For me I like a touring bike with a upright seating position. I like traveling long distance when the opportunity arises. For me a touring bike makes more sense. Image is the least of my concerns. As the saying goes, chrome never gets you home.
Now if the folks at the Lottery would be so kind to pick any of my numbers, I would head to two different bike builders and order bikes. See URLs below.
