A math question?

a bike and a car stand on opposite direction on a 3km road
the car is traveling towards the bike at 60 kmh
and the bike is moving towards the car at 10 kmh
how long will it take for them to meat

They are travelling towards each other at 70 kph.

To travel 3 km at 70 kph takes 3/70 hours

= 60 x 3/70 minutes

= 18/7 minutes

= 2 4/7 minutes

= 2 minutes 34.29 secs.

So it takes 2 minutes 34.29 seconds for them to meet.

Well I haven't done these questions in a while! However I can recall that Distance= Speed * Time. Hence Time = Distance/Speed.
So for the car it will take on a 3km road 3km/60kmh = .05 hours=3 minutes = 180 seconds to reach the OTHER SIDE! For the bike it will take on a 3km road 3km/10kmh =0.3 hours = 18 minutes = 1080 seconds to reach the OTHER SIDE!
Hence we can determine the COMMON time these two vehicles will MEET via the DIFFERENCE/ SUBTRACTION method. i.e 1080 -180= 900 seconds = 15 MINUTES!
