Good road bike? |
Whats a good road/triathlon bike that I can use in my first ever triathlon this summer. My price range is around $500. For $500, you can get an entry level road bike. Go to your local bike shop and see what they have in that price range. Let them fit you to a bike and then test ride it. Go to other bike shops and test ride every bike you can. Ignore brand names, marketing hype, and fancy brochures. You can't ride them. At the $500 level, competition in the bicycle business makes it very likely that any two bikes at the same price are very likely to be equivalent values. One bike will fit you better than the others, it will just feel better. You'll be able to tell that very soon after sitting on the bike and test riding it for a few minutes. Buy that bike. It is the one you will train on best and compete the best. George a really good looking bloke has the answer to this! Too funny, Mr. G. Sorry, but you're not going to find a serious road bike that cheap. Even the Giant OCR is around $650, and that's a "entry level" road bike. Some of these cheaper bikes may look nice, but they won't hold up to any serious riding. get a used giant ocr3 on ebay for about $400 and get the aero bar and shoes. and all you need is a good jersey to go with it all Come on George, what was wrong with the first go round of answers? Mr G say it all... You bum me out George. I recommend Bikesdirect.com. They have brands that you don't recognize but the parts added in are well known. I've found several really good tri bikes & road bikes under $800. |
