Riding a dirt bike on the road in maryland?

I have a suzuki DS 100, 99cc, dual sport dirt bike. its got a head light, and i think a brake light, i could be wrong.
i was wondering if it would be alright for me to ride it on the street. would i need a motorcycle license, or just a car license?and would i need to have it registered..
ive ridden it in the power line clearings (BGE Property) , and all the times ive been caught, the cops just say pack it up, or say keep going and have fun with it, they think its better to be riding than selling drugs lol. but i dont know what will happen if i ride it on the streets.

No motor vehicles are allowed on MD roads without registration, tags, and certainly a license. If you can get all those things properly taken care of then you should have no problem. But as a motorist, I can think of few things that are more annoying then seeing people on dirt bikes just flying around to tear things up and make noise. Yeah it's better than drugs, but doesn't necesarilly mean it's a good idea.

In MD, like most other states, you can't ride a motorcycle on the road without a motorcycle endorsed license, registration tags on the bike, and mandatory insurance coverage. Riding on our roads without meeting all those requirements is breaking the law. The cops are not as likely to be as forgiving in this case.

No, dirt bikes are not permitted on MD roads. I live in a rural section of MD and have kids riding on the roads all day long without regard to what little traffic there is and usually without safety gear.

One of these days a kid will go through a car windshield and be killed.
