Has anyone tried to crochet while riding a stationary exercise bike? |
If so, was it an upright or recumbent bike? I am looking to find an exercise activity I can incorporate with this sedentary hobby of mine. If you're exercising at such a slow pace that you can crochet at the same time, your exercise program is not strenuous enough to do you much good. Well, I haven't tried it myself... But I do crochet & I have rode on an upright stationary bike... I'd imagine it wouldn't be too difficult so long as you're going a slow & steady pace. I'd think it'd be a lot more difficult to do it on a recumbent bike, though. That may just be my opinion... I think it wouldn't work. You'd be looking down the whole time while on the bike and that probably wouldn't be very good for your back while exercising. One thing at a time grasshopper... Why would you want to crochet while exercising? Crochet is a relaxing hobby...done sitting down. I watch TV while I am exercising..seems to make time fly faster. I've done many miles on a recumbent while crocheting or knitting and watching TV. Can you say multitasking? LOL Okay, I know that I am nuts...but yes I have crocheted while on my exercise bike. It is quite simple, you need a pattern that is easy for you to do, something you do not need to look at. It also needs to be small. I like to do granny squares or mile-a-minute strips. It really helps to pass the time. I am a track coach and know the importance of exercise, but hate to be indoors. I find the exercise bike very boring and it really helps. I have figured out the faster I peddle, the faster I crochet! That is why it is best to keep it simple. Oh, by the way, mine is an upright bike. Now, if I could just figure out how to jog and crochet at the same time.... |
