Not interested in a trike. I have been looking at the easy sports LE, a few lesser ones for around $500 shipped (and 33ish lbs)
Also looking at Bachetta's Corsa (price hurts +tax--so would have to stalk for it used) and the carbon aero (found it for a little under 5K...which is a fantasy and over kill for me)
Accessories I want are a fairing,body sock, rack,bottle holder
I am also considering getting an electric conversion kit, still trying to pick the right battery though.
Anyways speed/racing isn't my main concern. Want comfort/durability/reliability. You will need some time in the saddle to find out which one you want.
Ez's are OK as first bents. The Corsa will out perform the LE on everything except maybe comfort.
I have put e-assist on lots of Ez's; it is pretty easy, you will have lots of choices.
with e-assist, the efficiency of the 'bent becomes less of an issue. Top assist are Bionx for features and light weight, Crystalyte for value, 360w Cyclone or other chaindrive for power. good choices. I have one of each, but I am in the trade. Make sure the battery can do the job on hills, that's where you will need it.
E assist is easy to install on recumbents as long as you don't have 16" wheels, which you don't want any way.
Mueller and ZZip have nice fairing body sock kits for most recumbents.
You have picked a high racer and a LWB value line. there are lots of good 'bents in-between.
Hopefully you are close to someplace where you can ride several; I would keep looking. (might be hard to get a bionx for the Corsa's 650 wheels)
Try an actionbent. contact your local bike club, or a 'bent club like WISIL, MARS, Whirl. |
