How do i remove a bike axle and pedal crank?

i'm building a recumbent bike and I already have the peddals off of the bike but i can't get the axel and peddal cranks off? They have a thred on it but no groves for a screw driver or no hex for a nut.

This is the THIRD time you have asked this question!!!

Every time you have received reasonable advice, yet you still don't know?

My Advice:- TAKE IT TO A BIKE SHOP.

.

I used to do a lot of stuff with my bike and I had a single piece crank and the way I remember it I had the outer nut which was six sided and then a flat retainer and then a "cone" which has two slots on it. I usually just hammered a screwdriver against one of these slots at an angle using my wrench to knock it lose. Once this is off you have a ring with the ball bearings. Then you can pull the crank out through the other side. Just remember not to put your bearings ring in backwards like I did once. Oh, and never too tight when putting it all back or you'll strip the bearings and lock the crank up, any loud squeaking noise will tell you - look to see if things are worn down and need replacing before you chuck it back together.

The Axle and pedal combination is called a 'Bottom Bracket' - The link below shows pictures of the three common types. Clicking on the appropriate name gives you some tips to remove/install them. You may need some extra tools.
