Experienced motorcyclist please help me.? |
I'm thinking of geting a hayabusa or a GSX R-1000 but the thing is, it's my first bike and i don't want to fall and mess it up. My plan whas to buy my freinds pocket bike first and practise on that until i'm comftorable. What should i do? i'm very nervous. First of all why are you going with such a large bike to begin with anyway??? Those bike are not beginner bikes. If i were in your shoes i would much rather get a 500-600cc bike to begin with. going to big to fast will get you killed. you first need time learning the basic riding techniques before you need to move upto a liter bike. if your going with such a large bike to start with you must be rather tall/ large. if so go with a gsx600 katana. Its a rather large bike to start out with but its not over powering to start out on. Dont get such a large bike to start out on. Liter bikes are not for beginners. Starting on a large bike like that is a VERY bad idea. Get yourself a used 500 or 600 to start on, then move up. first time. Whoa. Strongly agree. The bikes you are talking about are far too big and powerful. You have much to learn before stepping onto a 'busa or Gixxer 1000 i would start with a 750 at most, the new yamaha 600 is beautiful..... the haya can go 170 mph out of the box, do you need this. insurance is also crazy, sometimes twice the amount of the bike payment.... Forget the pocket bike. Like everyone else is saying look at a less powerful bike. A Suzuki SV650 is great. I also recommend a used motorcycle. You will save a bunch of money that way. first of all you cannot learn how to drive a 1000cc bike from driving a pocket bike That is the funniest thing I ever heard. That is like practicing with a cap gun to hunt elk. A pocket bike is a toy. those bikes are very powerful and not for city ride I've been riding a long time and I wouldn't touch a GSXR 1000. Most problems on bikes happen because of the weight of the bike in my experience. If a bike is 500lbs approx a new rider is going to crash it or drop it right away...the odds are in that favor. I have been riding for 22 years with no accidents. The Haybusa and GSX R-1000 are beyond my skill level. Many other bikes are beyond my skill level. To the begginers of motorcycles be aware of the charicteristics of the modern sportsbike. The 600 class of sportbikes pump out over 100 BHP. That is a lot of power for something that weighs less than 600Lbs with the rider. The engines are tuned for high rpm power and usually comes on in a rush, making it necessary to have positive control of throttle position. So, even a 600 class sportbike is not a good begginers choice. Now imagine a haybusa at 1350cc + or - with a tremendouse power to weight ratio. I mean, hey, this bike has more power than your average 2500 pound car. One little movement of the throttle and your going 35 MPH in town and then doing darn near a hundred by the time you have reacted and managed to pull yourself close enough to the handle bars to let off the throttle. Personally, the Haybusa is better suited for NASA. But for 99.9 percent of us it is a death machine. If you want a bike you wont outgrow to fast look at the Yamaha 650 VSTAR. Good low end power. Forgiving throttle response and predictable power output. Good fuel economy and prefered over the sprtsbike by all insurance companies. if u want to live, stay away from either. they will surely kill a rookie like u. noob friendly these bikes aint. You should be very nervous! How does broken bones and road rash feel? You will find out soon enough. i was just wondering how you are going to come up with money for that kind of bike. I would start off with a used bike and one that is much smaller than 1000cc. Most everyone drops their first bike at least once. It is a good thing to think about. I would suggest something like a Suzuki GS500, or something similar. Get the bike, get comfortable with riding it, and then look at something bigger. Also, the insurance on a bike like that with no riding experience is going to be insane. Also, if you want a sport bike, I would avoid starting on a cruiser. Get used to riding a sport bike because they have a completely different feel. I started on a sport bike and moved to a cruiser and it was a pretty ackward transition. Hope that helps those bikes are not for beginners I would suggest going with a smaller sportbike in the 500cc to 600cc range if thats what you are looking into and go take the MSF riders course a pocket bike? any liter bike will take my first bike is a gsxr 1000, good choice. as for the busa i think its too heavy for a first bike. just ride with ur head and dont show off for anyone |
