1979 AMC spray painting my car? |
hey iam about done with my engine looks like new alsmost, now i was wondering since i want to do every thing my self like the egine fixing i tinted the windows my self looks awsome and installed a new carpet. now i want to paint it black like gloss black. any sugestions or tips or someting i should keep in mind? iam prety good with the can i painted my pocket bike before and it looked sweet. what do you think? For most cases, when you paint dark colors, the finish needs more attention... meaning that the surface under the paint should be dent and nick free. Lighter colors tend to mask the imperfections better than dark colors. If you're set on black, better be ready to do what is needed to prep the surface prior to painting. Darker = more prep Lighter = less work. Good luck. I don't know how good You are with the can,but if You paint Your car with cans,.......... Don't tell nobody that You are my friend.!!!!!! You not gonna save any money ,any way. the cans, total expenses will be higher,money wise, than the paint shop. spray can will never come out good on a car. it will have what is called zebra stripes all over it due to the small fan pattern of the spray nozzle. let alone, it would take you 10+ cans if not even more. if you really want to do it yourself, get some old black lacquer paint, scuff and clean the surface, and get a basic HVLP spray gun and spray away. since its lacquer paint, you don't have to clear coat it after wards. just put it on so it looks wet. put down that can only use profeesional grade paint for your car spraypaint will chip and you will be saddened every time you see your car. thats what happened with my xbox 360 |
