Bump starting...? |
hey i am new to pit bikes and currently i have no spark plug.....could bump starting it get it started? and also how do you bump start a pit bike ...? First, as Dodge Man said, without a spark plug, it's not going to start, end of story. you need a spark plug in anything to get it started that runs on gas,if not its not going to run, good luck. You need a plug, there is no such thing as a pit bike, paddock bike maybe. Bikes were not allowed in the pits,at least they weren't when I raced. The technique GJ described in a post above is pretty accurate. Cept I always pop it in 1st gear and just push it as fast as possible, hop on and release the clutch. If motor gets anogh spin it will start the bike and you just pull the clutch back in. Pretty easy. Also note that I did this last time on my 03 F4i sportbike so Im sure 90% of bikes can be started this way. As far as sparkplugs, they are essential for combustion engines that run on gasoline so no you cant do w/o it. Good luck. Well you kinda need the plug in it it wont run to well with out one No spark plug? You need a spark plug if you want to entertain any hopes of starting that engine. put the bike in first gear and then push it around for about 10-15 minutes it should start after that |
