Pit bike, orion thumpster etc??

want to buy my son one for xmas, anybody got advice as to brand
etc.. looking for a 110cc

Go Japanese - Honda or Yamaha. Better a secondhand Jap than a new chinese bike. Quality is rubbish, it will break down regularly and spares are hard to find.

I watched one shed nuts, bolts and washers all over the workshop floor, just ticking over, just a couple of months ago.

Yamaha TTR90 or PW80 are about the same size. Yam RT100 or TTR125 are a little bigger.
Honda CRF70 is also around the same size, CRF100 is slightly bigger.

I work for an off road motorcycle activity centre as senior tech in the workshop and will not allow a chinese machine to enter the fleet, however I have first hand knowledge of the bikes mentioned.
If they can survive life spending 5 hours a day, 7 days a week with an unskilled, mechanically unsympathetic youth aboard; as they do where I work, then they will last forever in private hands provided they are looked after reasonably well. Source(s): I
Chinese bikes can be cheap but that's only if you buy the cheap ones. Don't waste the money on buying a name, the quality is not much better. I ended up with an Orion bike after watching my Honda break parts. This bike won areana cross also. I ordered mine thru www.orionpitbikesales.com
.

X-sports or thumpsters are great fun. The only thing with them is any extra bits can get quite pricey. The basic bikes are coming down in price though andd you should find some good christmas deals. It depends what engine size you want as to which one you get.
ARE YOU DAFT??? PUT FOUR WHEELS UNDER HIM OR YOU'LL BEN PAYING FOR THE BROKEN BONES AND RUINING HIS CHANCES FOR A SPORTS SCHOLARSHIP BUT THEN YOU MAY BE ONE OF THOSE PARENTS THAT DOESN'T REALLY CARE
Listen to tinkicker - he knows his stuff!

The auto parts store chinese minis are fun for adults to mess around on occasionally, but their quality and design issues can make them seriously dangerous for kids - let alone the headaches dad will have when things break and there's no replacement parts readily available.

The SVIA and the US government are currently trying to decide what to do about this new group of ATV's and motorcycles that is completely unregulated and unregistered.

I'm not a big fan of additional regulation, but it only seems logical that if Honda and other major manufacturers are required to follow strict guidelines to sell bikes here in the states, shouldn't these new companies also?
