Does anyone know what the law is about a home-made vehicle powered by a petrol engine, such as a bike or scooter with an engine fitted to it ? I'm not sure of the actual law, but i know you can ride an electric engine powered vehicles if it''s under a certain size and it only 'assists' you, but i don't think a petrol engine is allowed. It may also depend on where you live. Check with the local police station or something. if you plan to use it on the public roads, it will have to pass an m.o.t

you'ii aiso need insurance. As far as I know a petrol skateboard doesn't need anything to be on the road but if you are putting a petrol engine onto a push bike frame or thnking of making your own petrol road going car you need to have it tested by the ministry of transport. Once they have ok'd it you need to register it by getting registration plate from the DVLA and then have it MOT'd, taxed and insured to drive on a UK road. If you want to use it off-road you do not need any of this |
