Is the Apollo FS.26 mountain bike from Halfords any good for 拢126? |
I am looking for a cheap full suspension mountain bike with a disc brake. In Halford they stock the Apollo FS.26. It's got full suspension, front disc, aluminum frame and all for 拢126. Is it any good? The Apollo FS.26 isn't really all that great a bike. If your looking for absolute bottom of the barrell bike then yes, go for it. The front disc has alot less stopping power than a better quality V-brake, no matter what the sales assistant tells you. The full suspension tends to be really hard or far too soft, not suitable for anything. Aluminium frames are normally execellent, but on the apollo's they tend to be cut-offs from scraps of other aluminium! If your shopping in Halfords, then have a look at a saracen if your looking for a good quality, cheap bike. The build quality if far superior than an apollo, as well as componetry. If your halfords store has it in stock, a Kona Lana'i, is worth the extra 拢80 (拢200) It's one of the best cheap bikes going, and comes from one of the best bike manufacturers in the world. Most of their bikes go in excess of 拢1000! That would be my recommendation to you, but you could always try ad-trader for a good bike aswell!!! Iain Apollo Bikes from Halfords are total garbage, it will be useless off-road and Heavy. If you are looking for something cheap with some off-road abilty then go to a Decathlon Store or look at Revolution Bikes on the Edinburgh Bikes website ( They do mail order) |
