What 's the best way to fit a mountain bike into the trunk of a small car, like a civic, with no scratching? |
I just bought a brand new 06 Civic Coupe. I don't even know if a mountain bike will fit inside but I don't want to scratch any part of my car. Anyone have any ideas? I carry my bike in the trunk of my brothers car all the time. You should drop down the back seat so most of the bike fits in the car and doesn't hang out. Put the front tire between your knees and twist the handle to one side, as this will make the bike slimmer and much easier to fit in the trunk. Don't worry about twisting the handle, you won't break it! Wrap the bike tires and handle with plastic, preferably with garbage bags since they are cheap, convenient and large enough to do the job. Get a bungee cord or some twine to tie the trunk down securely; for obvious reasons. Good luck and drive slowly and safely. Take off the front tire of the bike. go out and buy a thing to attach your bike to the outside of your car... |
