Mountain bike pegs, is this possible?

i have an aluminum K2 w/dropouts. I love my bike. It has a nice rear rack, waterbottle holders, and front and rear lights. The only thing that I want now is to be able to ride someone w/me. Have you seen anyone rig anything up that would'nt damage the bike?

NEVER put pegs on a mountain bike, especially if that bike has quick release wheels.

Pegs are not to carry passengers. A friend of mine lost half his foot when riding on pegs while someone else was pedaling... he shifted his foot which went into the wheel and the spokes acted just like a knife.. right through his shoe. Worse, the person pedalling felt the resistance and pushed HARDER on the pedals which pulled the foot bones right out.

It only took the blink of an eye. Source(s): 26 years in the industry
yes
Not really, Pegs are used on BMX bikes to enable the rider to perform stunts. They are not intended for passengers. The pegs screw onto the axles, so unless your bike has solid axles (not quick release) you won't be able to put them on anyways. Lastly, your bike is made for one person, not two. Riding a passenger is plain unsafe and should be avoided unless completely necessary, and then only by experienced riders with the bike handling skills necessary to be able to compensate for the added weight and center of gravity changes.

P.S. wear a helmet
