Overview of 26" Mongoose Blackcomb Mountain Bike? |
I'm looking for an overview of this bike, an overview that walmart doesn't offer. How the bike works. I need pros and cons for it. And I would like to know how it feels for those who have the bike. A lot of the comments do point to the use of lower-end components-- Plastic pedals that breaks after a few rides, the forks don't have adjustable shocks, the rear spring is too bouncy and absorbs a lot of your pedaling power (which means the bike isn't too fast on pavement and is a bear going up hills), the bike is a bit heavy, and only comes in one frame size which might make it difficult to fit to someone, etc. Just remember: Caveat Emptor. You might have to spend far more than the $280 to get it to work acceptably (new pedals, forks with adjustable shocks, suspension with lockout/adjustment, and other components to replace subpar stock stuff). Then there are the additional costs of outfitting the bike, with things like a saddle bag, cyclocomputer, bottle cages, etc. It could add up to more than 2x the cost. Good luck. |
