Make it 拢500 and i'll sell you my full suspension Porsche Mountain Bike It's Canary yellow, with front and rear hydraulic disc brakes, yellow 3 spoke alloy wheels, 21 speed. Virtually brand new except for a small scratch on rear alloy i have bought a few bikes in that price range and the one that i liked the most was a gt avalanche 2.0 . if i was you i would try and get a second hand bike for 拢300. that way you are really buying a second hand 拢500 or maybe 拢600 bike. it will have better parts and even though it has been used should be a better value bike Don't even think about buying a full sus bike for 拢300 - you'll hardly get a decent rear shock for the moeny, let alone a decent bike! As for hardtails in that price range, you won't go wrong with a Specialized Hardrock. Its a great entry level bike, and for 拢300 you get the most basic model (well, there is a cheaper one with a rigid fork...) and it will do anything you want a bike to do for that price. Best thing to do is get to a decent bike shop (not Halfords!) and try a couple of bikes you like the look of. Tell them what you need it for, and they'll also be able to advise you. Can't tell you about the 2 bikes you mentioned, but your 300 Quid question...
