I just bought a mountain bike, to workout my legs?



how many minutes or hour a day can i do this to work out my legs .i went to the park today and rode my bike for 15 min and i can feel the burn.i bought to stay active and lose some weight.what do ya recommend for me.

When you say working out your legs do you mean that you want to get them to have more muscle?

Riding a bike does strengthen your muscles in your legs, but the true benefit is the cardio that you are doing. You will find that if you ride 1 hour a day at a good pace, this means heart rate medium - high, then you will start to lose weight.

I like interval sprints this is a sure way to get the heart pumping.

Ride for a while at a casual pace then for 3 0 secs ride full out and then slow down to a casual pase again. Do this around 8 times and you will feel the burn. Its great!
Try to vary your terrain. Attempt some inclines and hills and gradually increase the length of your rides. The hills will help to build leg muscle and increase calories burned.
