I just broke a hub on my mountain bike, any ideas on how to fix it, or replace it, can it be done? |
The "racheting" mechanism broke, but did not lock up, the bike can coast, of coarse however, when you try to peddal, the gears rotate, but no motion is transfered to the wheel. Is it relatively easy to fix, or will I probably need a replacement. By easy, meaning is it possible to fix, or when it goes, is it usualy gone/unrepairable... and if it's dead for good, how much will a new one cost (the bike is a mongoose EFX 21 speed). Any advice or assistance is appreciated, Thank You! I would say that the hub could probably be fixed. I would actually have to see it to give you a 100% answer. Another thing to take into acount would be is the repair of the hub going to cost as much as a new wheel? If it comes close which it may, I would buy a new wheel if I where you. A new rear wheel started at $35 at the bike shop I used to work at. I hope that helps if you need more let me know. ok this is a stupid question so im guessing u bought this bike at wal mart b/c i cant find that model on the mongoose site. Go buy a new bike from your local bike shop or heres an idea bring your bike to a bike shop. it dosent seem like your hardcore about this so why dont you stop giving mtb (mountain biking) a bad name and give it up ME BMX ers and MTBers |
